Hey You, its Bobby Sue.

Ok, so the long wait is over. It took no less than the violation of FIVE restraining orders to bring you a FULL MONTH of heavy Boys Named Sue action.

First off, we are playing this Saturday at the All Good Cafe.

(214) 742-5362
2934 Main Street
Deep Ellum

So Sat 3/29 @ Allgood Cafe

There are two shows planned for this 8pm and 10pm. Kitchen is open until 10. This place is great!!!!!
You gotta check it out and have a bite. (or just stop by on a Sunday afternoon) They have cold bevs too.

Secondly, the Boys Named Sue are proud to announce Sunday Fun Days at Muddy Waters. Im not entirely sure what the start times are, but we are aiming for something a little earlier than the usual 11pm more of a happy hour thing.
This starts this Sunday and will be through April.

3/30 @ Muddy Waters (THIS SUNDAY!!!)
4/6 @ Muddy Waters (the next sunday!!!1)
4/13 @ Muddy Waters (yet another sunday )
4/20 @ Muddy Waters (ok…you get the point)
4/27 @ Muddy Waters

Of course…all dates are tentative and if your driving a big distance….call ahead. This is a good practice with all bands.

The only other news I can think of is the impending release of the BNS CD.
The rejection letters have already come in…and we havent even recorded the first note.
Talk about pre-emptive.

Special thanks to Cindy at Texas gigs for spreading the word.
She has claimed another 5 minutes/Day of websurfing with

Take care
Happy Weekend

In other news….The Boys Named Sue split ways after a heated scuffle involving empty stone cans and beef byproducts. It began with Bobby Sue calling Sue-ay a Ninny.
Sue-ay responded with…oh ya…your a ninny times two. As you imagine, this went on to three and four like so many cha cha chas. The bands limited grasp on number theory never was revealed when nobody actually claimed infinity.
T-sue finally snapped at Ward stating…”noboby is gonna take Buttf&*@! They are always gonna say truth….why do you keep asking? And HERES what I think of your Helicopter.” Cue the throwing of beef by-products. Snakebite was unavailible for comment as he was at the nudie bar.

Rob: Here’s a link to a review of the book I was telling you about by David Menconi (see the main story in No D this month about Caitlin Cary). http://www.rockzilla.net/smith132.html. As I said, Menconi was around for the whole Whiskeytown thing from Day One. He took lots of notes of all the inanities etc. The book is full of gutwrenchingly funny musician “lines.”

Muddy Waters changes hands on March 1st. We met the guys last night. They seemed kinda good intentioned. I guess they plan on keeping most the bar the same…but I doubt it. All the furniture is going (they already paid for the replacement stuff). Sounds like they want a blues bar (aptly named..sound history…nothing out of place there).
Sounds like a different band lineup though.
(it might look a lot more varied than the lineup at Summer Break Records).

He said he wanted the “sues”, but as the five of us stood in front of him…in our hula shirts, lai’s, shorts and cowboy boots. (well four of us really…the fifth sue last night was “Tiki Sue”; a 7 foot cardboard tiki god I made from a box I found in the dumpster), we seemed apprehensive. Guarantees…food for bands? Hmmm.

Said they would keep the bartenders.

I suppose if Rich is selling it…its not making stellar money. I cant say I really see the little SMU kids running around like I used to. The normal muddy folks would be as happy at Barley house.

I had sent this out and Dan responded appropriatly.

2 words “Mother” and “F#ck”

The last thing we need is another “Dallas bar”. I like Barley OK, but Muddys has a certain something that Barley just doesn’t, and probably never will have. There’s a certain camaraderie that has persisted over the years, with numerous band lineups, bartenders, and managers. I don’t know if it’s the location, or the darkness, the generally strong drinks or what.
Maybe something to do with the layout. You just can’t get as up close and personal with the compartmentalized space at Barley House…

Obviously, you would know better than me, but I’m thinking they’ll want bands like the Sues and stuff with proven draws and their own crowd at least during a transition period.

Ugh, this is not good news. I love XPO and Muddys and I don’t want either of them changed. If they do, I might as well just shoot myself cause Dallas would just be that much worse without these little oases…

Here are a few BNS letters. I figured I would rescue them from Johns Mailbox.

———————————–
Hanksgiving at Muddy Waters

Hey all…Bobby Sue here.

Tonight is our “Hanksgiving” Boys Named Sue event at Muddy Waters. So come on down and help us celebrate….maybe with a few wild turkey shots and cranberry chasers.

If you have not been down there yet…you ought to. Its the most happening spot on a Tuesday night that you can find. Plus two dollar wells make everything seem better.

Heres their link.
http://www.muddywatersbar.com/muddywatersbar/

Plus tonight only….10% less talk…10% more Waylon. oh…and as usually…we get started kinda late
(around 10:30ish)

This could be the last time you see us for a while….but we are in negotiations for next month. Im pretty sure that we will have another holiday extravaganza….but since we need to be politically correct it will be a Hankmas/Kwaylonzaa/Yoakamadan / Willie Nelsonukah thing…to accomidate everyone.

Oh…and if you feel that you do not belong on this list and want to be removed because I outright took your name from someone elses list who was careless enough not to Bcc everyone. Fair enough…reply with a remove.

—————————-
How do ya do, its Bobby Sue!

Well folks, hope everyone had a good holiday season. We all did. Its time now for you to get your new winter coats and shiny boots out to Muddy Waters tonight to help us celebrate the first Sue show for the year. Ya cant go wrong seeing a sue show at Muddys. Casual atmosphere, strong libations…oh and tonight is camera night. Yes sir….bring yer cameras and we will pose like crazy. Show starts at 10:30ish

Muddy Waters is located at 1518 Greenville Avenue Dallas, Texas 75206, just one block south of Ross Ave on Greenvile.

And to prove to you that yes….truth is stranger than fiction, the Boys Named Sue are playing at Have a Nice Day Cafe in the West end on the 10th.

Should be interesting. The western swing version of “Double Dutch Bus” is coming along nicely.

Howdy Howdy.

Bobby Sue here again writing to keep y’all up with the comings and goings of the best band ever.

Before we start, I want to come out and say that these rumors concerning Winona Ryder catting around with various members of BNS are only 85% true at best. T-Sue did point out that “wino forever” was already taken so we all went with the pre-emptive “Im with Stupid” ‘Tat instead.

Howdy there sue, howdy there who?

don’t forget dusk, don’t miss Mo,
he’ll get your as bumpin’ on the patio…
We got cheap beer, we got good times,
we’ll pyro your ass if you step out of line.

We are the Boys Named Sue,
Coming to Boar’s Nest every Sunday in June…
Get choo some fade outs, get choo some booze,
gitchoo some tukey legs and a Sue shot too.

Get there early, party with Mo…
Head home around midnight when the party gets slow.
Dub Sue, Bobby Sue, Snakebite, and T…
and another little homey they call Yo Duh Lay Hee.

Again I say, Sunday’s the place to be
at the Boar’s Nest getting sloppy….
See y’all there fools!!!!!!!!
