Had a BLAST with Mo Robson in Sweetwater this weekend for the Worlds Largest Rattlesnake Roundup. Good times indeed.

Mo and his band actually got out there on Thursday. The Jaycees were wonderful hosts and seemed to do a good job of keeping Mo’s ice cooler stocked. Tsue and I drove out on Saturday and just spent the night. The drive was night. I got to stop at one of my favorite western wear shops in Eastland. The McDonalds was packed with very beautiful Texas women. I gotta admit….west Texas is where its at. Alas, just about every one of em had a baby attached to her hip.

The main station was KXOX. They promised full coverage “From the first fang to the final rattle”. I cant say that there was much need for the up to the minute reports, but we did hear them interview the opening band as well as Mo. The KXOX mobile was fun to visit. I became enlightened on the sad state of Country Music while listening to a syndicated top 40 show. Now, I have my home alarm set to this station that plays the most INSANELY stupid songs. Texas Tornado or something. They claim to play Cross Canadian and such….but I have yet to hear that. I do hear all these songs with lyrics that are just asinine….like “I feel like Tonto, riding a Pinto, Trying to chase the Lone ranger” by a band called Big & Rich. This gets me outta bed so I have to stop listening to it. Turns out these are really top 40 songs. Ugh. Ok….back to static to get me up.

Part of the appeal of country is that any age listener can listen to it. This junk is crap.

Anyways….Yes, I tried rattlesnake. I ate the rattlesnake Fijita Pita. MMMM. Of course, it was kinda like chicken.

The night was good times. I have lived in Texas for eight years, and I still can fully accept BYOB. It seems like your cheating or sneaking in booze or something. In a stroke of pure GENIUS, Mo asked all the girls to come up on stage and dance for Sweet Home Alabama.

The next day we got to check out the snake pit. Lots and Lots and lots of snakes. Pics are here.
