So heard a bit about this on radio this week. Thought
it
sounded interesting…plus they mentioned that there
was
a bluegrass band playing at the show. I thought it
was supposed to be Champ Hood’s son.

Found out 10 minutes ago its US!!!!!!!!

so some of us (BNS - Drums = Turkey Legs) are playing
at the MAC from 5:30 to 6:30.
Should be interesting.

Subject: A Call To The Masses!!!

I know I said no more weekly emails. This one time I lied -sorry.

Saturday night is an epic event for Speedtrucker. Dare I say that you’d be a fool to miss this show? Rumor (and it is only a rumor) that the dancing poles will be occupied this time by twins -good-looking blonde twins. Guys, we thought way ahead this time. Sorry the girls weren’t a bit cuter last time. If you missed the last show, and you don’t have a clue what I’m talking about, check out the link below for some pictures.

The Curtain Club Saturday night is the show of shows: Speedtrucker like you have never seen them -well, 300 plus of you saw the show last October 03′ -so most of you haven’t seen Speedtrucker in their primitive rock show performance. This is defiantly worth the drive from wherever you live. (People in Houston, Lubbock, and Austin don’t let the Okies out number you).

We are looking to break our last attendance of 300 plus, at what will soon become the venue for us to play in Dallas. We sold every last beer in this place last time. Not to mention, they had to open the balcony bar to facilitate our booze-drinking-whiskey hounds we call fans. (Don’t worry people this isn’t an insult. It’s a compliment that you step up and drink as much as the band,if not more -that is all of you combined of coarse).

Be there to support the guys. Stage diving and mosh pit optional!!!

We are also proud to have 2 very great bands warming you up for the main event. Get there early to check out the “Hearty Texas Rock” of Smokewagon 44. Check them out at www.smokewagon44.com After they get done rockin’ you out, our friend Craig Boyd will take the stage and lay it down fo ya -you won’t be disappointed.

Thanks for supporting Speedtrucker. We have the best fans in the land.
See you Saturday night!!!!

From the Onion (By Derek Phillips, March 14, 2001…I think)

HAMMOND, IN– The credibility of 26-year-old Jeff Gaskill’s record collection is badly damaged by the inclusion of several albums of dubious artistic merit, friend Rob Appel reported Monday. “He’s got tons of awesome stuff, everything from [X-Ray Spex's] Germ Free Adolescents to [Al Green's] Call Me,” Appel said of the 750-plus CD library. “But then, smack-dab in between The Pogues’ Rum, Sodomy & The Lash and Portishead’s Dummy is Poison’s Greatest Hits.” Continued Appel: “Before I could ask him what the hell it was doing there, I spot Hell Freezes Over by The Eagles. That record alone negates the coolness of Brian Eno’s Here Come The Warm Jets and The Flying Burrito Brothers’ The Gilded Palace Of Sin.”

Had a BLAST with Mo Robson in Sweetwater this weekend for the Worlds Largest Rattlesnake Roundup. Good times indeed.

Mo and his band actually got out there on Thursday. The Jaycees were wonderful hosts and seemed to do a good job of keeping Mo’s ice cooler stocked. Tsue and I drove out on Saturday and just spent the night. The drive was night. I got to stop at one of my favorite western wear shops in Eastland. The McDonalds was packed with very beautiful Texas women. I gotta admit….west Texas is where its at. Alas, just about every one of em had a baby attached to her hip.

The main station was KXOX. They promised full coverage “From the first fang to the final rattle”. I cant say that there was much need for the up to the minute reports, but we did hear them interview the opening band as well as Mo. The KXOX mobile was fun to visit. I became enlightened on the sad state of Country Music while listening to a syndicated top 40 show. Now, I have my home alarm set to this station that plays the most INSANELY stupid songs. Texas Tornado or something. They claim to play Cross Canadian and such….but I have yet to hear that. I do hear all these songs with lyrics that are just asinine….like “I feel like Tonto, riding a Pinto, Trying to chase the Lone ranger” by a band called Big & Rich. This gets me outta bed so I have to stop listening to it. Turns out these are really top 40 songs. Ugh. Ok….back to static to get me up.

Part of the appeal of country is that any age listener can listen to it. This junk is crap.

Anyways….Yes, I tried rattlesnake. I ate the rattlesnake Fijita Pita. MMMM. Of course, it was kinda like chicken.

The night was good times. I have lived in Texas for eight years, and I still can fully accept BYOB. It seems like your cheating or sneaking in booze or something. In a stroke of pure GENIUS, Mo asked all the girls to come up on stage and dance for Sweet Home Alabama.

The next day we got to check out the snake pit. Lots and Lots and lots of snakes. Pics are here.
